The Brookfield Private Equity Group (BPEG) is one of Brookfield Asset Management’s primary operating platforms. We own and operate high-quality businesses and operationally enhance them, focusing on long-term growth and capital appreciation. Our portfolio is comprised of business services and industrials company focused on long-term capital appreciation. Our portfolio of assets is primarily located in North and South America, Europe and Australasia. We invest through a series of Private Funds and a listed entity, Brookfield Business Partners (“BBU”).
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance, the role is part of a collaborative team of professionals located in London, and responsible for oversight of several investments across the UK and Europe. The SFA, Europe has responsibility for supporting a broad range of finance activities across several Private Equity Operating Businesses within the UK and Europe, inclusive of financial reporting, FP&A, valuations, treasury and other risk related matters.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Finance point of contact interacting with finance team members at the Operating Businesses, European Private Equity Team (inclusive of M&A professionals) and North American Corporate levels
Review regular reporting submissions from Operating Businesses including performance against budget, and summarize for reporting internally and to North America
Build relationships with the M&A team to gain strategic understanding of each portfolio company and develop understanding of how the financial results fit into that strategy
Ensure integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information being reported on from Operating Businesses, both in quarterly reporting and other deliverables
Support accounting responsibilities for UK Renewable Manager Entity as needed
Review and/or preparation of valuation models in conjunction with the M&A team, for internal reporting purposes, including fund valuation models, PPE models, impairment analysis and internal corporate models
Involvement in annual business planning and budgeting process involving uploading and consolidating inputs from Operating Businesses
Support financial due diligence on potential acquisitions and/or dispositions, as needed
Involvement in integration of new investments into the European platform
Coordinate fund flows into and out of Operating Businesses, and/or corporate holding companies, as well as support transaction close for new acquisitions
Perform various ad-hoc strategic/investment performance analysis for internal stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
2:1 grade or above undergraduate degree, ideally in Business, Accounting or Finance
Big Four Qualified Accountant and/or Finance qualification (ACA/ACCA) with 3+ years post qualification experience, preferably with industry experience
Strong analytical skills with solid attention to detail coupled with ability to think critically and see the “big picture”
Outstanding communication, research and analytical skills
An ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders of all levels across the organisation
Self-motivated, proactive and demonstrates initiative
Strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential and non-routine information
Able to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
Previous experience in Financial Services and/or Financial Planning and Analysis
Strong proficiency at MS Excel and experience using MS PowerPoint
Additional language skills would be an asset
