Nomura Global Markets Structuring team operates across equities, fixed income, currencies, credit and commodities, in both developed and emerging markets. It is regarded as a market-leading team, winning recognition such as Risk.net’s Solutions House of the Year for 2018, and Global Capital’s Volatility Bank of the Year for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Nomura’s Quantitative Strategies team takes a data-driven approach to investing across asset classes by applying both numerical and economic analysis to market data. It helps generate revenue by working with internal and external clients, providing insights and actionable ideas to manage risk exposures and deliver trading strategies. Its work includes both quantitative investment strategies (QIS) as well as derivative strategies. The team has won prestigious mandates from leading clients against heavy competition from both buy-side and sell-side firms.

Role description:

The successful candidate will enjoy a steep learning curve in an environment that is data-rich, intellectually challenging and commercially intense. Specifically, they will

  • Manage and troubleshoot daily analytical routines the team uses to identify trading opportunities

  • Expand coverage of analysis to new instruments and markets

  • Help prepare presentation for clients

  • Help design and implement new analysis

  • Become skilled in Python

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge desired

  • Knowledge and proficiency in a major programming language, e.g. Python, Matlab or R

  • Enthusiasm for using technology to solve challenging problems

  • Knowledge of finance, statistics / machine learning and derivative pricing

  • Higher degree in quantitative discipline such as math, science or engineering

  • FX and rates knowledge a plus

  • Good written and oral communication skills
