SEO is shortlisting candidates for an Investment Professional - Associate level - role at Development Partners International, a premier investment firm focused on Africa with US $3.0bn in assets under management across its funds and committed co-investments. The funds strategy is to build a diversified pan-African portfolio of private equity investments in established and growing companies from the continent's fast-growing middle class, innovation, and digital transformation.
About the Role:
The role is a 2-year fixed term contract, following which candidates will most likely wish to do an MBA. This is a great opportunity for a junior level candidate to break into private equity.
The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for financial analysis and modelling relating to ongoing and potential transactions, playing an important role within the deal team. Furthermore, identifying investment opportunities; analysis of potential transactions, including due diligence and preparing investment proposals; deal execution, involving structuring, negotiation and legal documentation; and portfolio monitoring will form part of the role.
Responsibilities:
You will be actively involved in a support capacity in all aspects of the investment process, in monitoring the portfolio and in marketing the fund.
Responsibility for modelling and financial analysis of potential deals and portfolio companies.
Responsibility for researching the market for investment opportunities and trends, helping source and screen investments, working on all aspects of a transaction and running part of the investment due dilligence process.
Responsibility for undertaking industry research and building a detailed financial model during the commercial due diligence phase that includes a comprehensive valuation.
Responsibility for collecting and querying of portfolio company monthly management accounts and supporting in the compilation of quarterly and valuation reports.
Responsibility for providing financial advisory support to Portfolio Company and assisting in the monitoring and management of portfolio companies.
The Candidate:
Development Partners International is a highly entrepreneurial environment and requires flexibility and commitment.
The candidate must have;
Strong financial and strategic analysis and excellent verbal and written communication skills gained from private equity and/or investment banking, and excellent analytical, modelling and reporting skills.
Demonstrable interest in Africa or emerging markets would be beneficial. Exceptional academic record, strong business acumen and a long-term approach to investment decision-making necessary.
The candidate is likely to have 1-2 years of investment banking experience from a major investment bank or private equity experience.
Fluent French would be beneficial.
