The Investment Analyst is the interface at every point of the deal generation, up to deal exit stages with a particular emphasis on seamless, flawless, professionally delivered project management / execution. Each stage of the deal requires high grade interface with intermediaries, management teams, vendors as well as with internal colleagues which is supported by a balanced tool kit, including business assessment, people assessment, portfolio management and transaction processing and structuring.


Responsibilities & Duties


  • Structuring and project managing different work streams including liaison with intermediaries, advisors (corporate finance, diligence teams, etc.), vendors and management teams.

  • Research and analysis of information by sector, by sub-sector, by industry, by geography re prospective target companies,

  • Analysis of data to support the need of the investment teams, in connection with the identification, origination or the pursuit of transactions, for example:

  • Competitive analysis / benchmarking,

  • Market analysis,

  • Modelling,

  • Stress, covenant & sensitivities testing,

  • Review of commercial due diligence/legal due diligence/financial due diligence

Candidates must have relevant post graduate work experience in private equity, banking or consulting. It is preferable that experience has been gained in a high performing culture. A knowledge of and passion for private equity is preferable.


Essential Skills & Abilities


  • 2:1 degree or above preferably gained from a top tier university

  • Advanced Excel Skill

  • Experience within banking or consultancy is essential

  • Exposure to high value transactions

  • Ability to interpret business management accounts, build models and assess investment impact is essential

  • A strategic thinker with good project management skills

  • Proactive & driven with good commercial judgement

  • Strong analytical skills to enable results orientated conclusions (preference for demonstrable top of peer group financial modelling skills)

  • Systematic and flexible approach to work, with the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks

  • Adaptable and able to organise activities according to priorities and across multiple parallel work streams

  • Strong skills in influencing & persuasion to enable successful working relationships and collaboration at all levels across Hg

  • Effective written & verbal communication skills

  • Impeccable levels of integrity and trustworthiness

  • Persistent & resilient when working under pressure

  • Confident and able to work independently
