Job Overview


Hayfin is one of Europe's leading investment platforms currently managing c.€25 billion of AUM across three core strategies: Direct Lending, Special Opportunties and High Yield Credit. Hayfin seeks to recruit a bright, articulate, detail-oriented ESG Analyst to join its Investor Relations team within the Partner Solutions group with a dedicated focus on ESG.


The successful candidate will support the critical function of ESG within investor communications by providing regular reporting for funds and SMAs, responding to ESG and stewardship information requests from existing investors and prospects through due diligence questionaries, requests for proposal and ad hoc questions.


The successful candidate will sit within the Partner Solutions Group but will work closely with the Head of ESG, joining key internal ESG communities. Hayfin is looking at a truly dynamic professional with a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in the finance industry. 



Responsibilities


Client Communication:

  • Completion of regular and ad hoc requests for ESG reporting and information from existing and prospective clients and consultants

  • Maintain active dialogue with the Head of ESG to answer investor and consultant queries to ensure accuracy in ESG reporting. Completing annual ESG monitoring templates for our clients and consultants. 


Marketing, Fundraising and Client Meetings:

  • Prepare ESG sections of presentations, handouts, analysis and briefing packs ahead of client meetings.

  • Communicate to Hayfin participants about the history of our ESG processes, context and goals before meetings and next steps/action items after meetings

  • Provide accurate, timely and consistent responses to investor ESG due diligence questions (DDQs) and ESG sections of requests for proposal (RFPs)

  • Manage preparation and maintenance of ESG marketing materials and ESG information in data room for fundraising


Investor and Firm Reporting:

  • Produce annual Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) Article 8 reporting for distribution to investors including ESG data processing

  • Prepare annual firm and fund level ESG reporting against the following industry standards:

  • UK Stewardship Code 2020 annual submission

  • UN Principles for Responsible Investment annual submission

  • Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) reporting at firm and fund level

  • Produce bespoke ESG client reporting in line with client requests e.g. analysis of net zero alignment of portfolio companies across funds

  • Work to develop, without precedent, Hayfin's quarterly ESG and stewardship reporting to investors, including processing large quantities of qualitative and quantitative data

  • Maintain libary of engagement and ESG integration case studies across funds

  • Prepare ESG materials for annual Investor Day


Working directly with ESG team:

  • Join Hayfin's ESG Committee (where Hayfin's ESG strategy is discussed), attending, participating in and taking minutes of quarterly meetings

  • Join Hayfin's ESG Deal Committee (where each private credit deal is assessed on the grounds of ESG risk), attending, participating in and taking minutes for meetings twice a week

  • Assist in preparation of slides for reporting on ESG matters internally to the Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Committee


Data management:

  • Assist in maintaining and improving processes and systems used to gather, store and process ESG data, working internally with our IT, investment and ESG teams

  • Intergrating proprietary ESG data sources into ESG analysis internally and into the provision of external investor reporting

  • Gathering corporate-level data on an annual basis to enable the calculation of Hayfin's corporate level emissions with view to setting a net zero strategy



Skills and Experience

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (finance, economics, business etc.)

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an investment bank, investment manager or placement agent role

  • Comfortable working without precedent to develop new processes and materials

  • Excellent analytical, writing and verbal communication skills

  • Great attention to details and strong cultures

  • Proficient excel skills: formulas, pivot tables, data management technique

  • Proficient powerpoint skills in drafting presentations
