The responsibility of a Claims Assistant in Arch Regional Claims relates to claims generated by Arch UK Regional.

 Duties include the following:

  • Enter claims notifications onto the chosen claims system

  • Assist handlers with diary management of open claims

  • Assist Claims Handlers with tasks such as payment requests and customer update requests

  • General duties associated with day-to-day claims operations, including, general admin tasks, answering telephones and other ad hoc requests

  • Handle low level claims associated with Arch UK Regional Claims

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise:

  • Adhering to the Arch Insurance (International) Ltd reserving philosophy   and ensuring claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner

  • Responsibility for handling losses within assistant’s authority levels

Assist in the management of external service providers:

  • Feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e., lawyers and loss adjusters and ensuring adherence to SLAs

Claims Strategy:

  • Involved in the delivery of the department's business goals and objectives.

Skills / Competencies

  • Proven ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) at the highest levels   across all areas of an organisation

  • Must be results and service focussed

  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organised

  • Computer literate and numerate with intermediate Excel and Word skills

  • Proven ability to prioritise and strong organisational skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and use initiative

  • Relationship and negotiation skills

  • Customer focussed

  • Claims Handling knowledge (desirable)

  • Proactive approach to problem solving and decision making

  • Flexible, team player


  • Interest in obtaining some form of CII qualification (company sponsored)


The following experience is preferred:

  • Experience working in a demanding and busy claims or customer service department

  • Knowledge and understanding of the claims handling process (desirable)
