Our Team
The Global Opportunities strategy started in 1988 and currently manages $36 billion in assets across a wide range of industries and geographies. It emphasizes an opportunistic, value-oriented, and risk-controlled approach to investments in private equity, listed equities, distressed / corporate debt, convertible securities, and real estate.
The London-based team is composed of 16 investment professionals and has a regional focus on EMEA and Latin America. Selected recent investments include:
Inter Milan (2021, Credit) – Oaktree provided rescue financing into the Milan-based football club
Redcat (2021, Equity) – Taking advantage of the dislocation in the UK Pub industry, Oaktree sponsored avehicle to consolidate assets across the country
Acacia (2021, Equity) – Platform in the retrocession insurance space, building upon challenges of the industry, from COVID to climatic events
LATAM Airlines (2020, Credit) – Oaktree led and provided a $1bn+ financing to LATAM Airlines as part of its Chapter 11 process
Culmia (2020, Equity) – Oaktree acquired one of the largest housebuilders in Spain from a major bank
Pure (2017-20, Equity) – Oaktree created a “White Label” data centre platform to capitalize on the globalexpansion of IT hyperscalers
Scope & Responsibilities
Creating detailed financial models and investment memoranda related to potential opportunities and existing investments;
Assisting in all aspects of underwriting and due diligence of investment opportunities across multiple sectors;
Assisting in business, market research, industry analysis, accounting and legal due diligence where applicable; and
Assisting in monitoring and managing existing investments.
Experience Required
Requires 1- 5 years of experience with a top-tier Investment Bank, Private Equity, Restructuring Advisory Boutique, Hedge Fund or Strategy Consulting Firm across Corporate and Real Estate;
Demonstrated competency in financial analysis, due diligence, valuations, preparing investment memorandums and advanced financial modeling; and
Proven ability to multi-task, understand and grasp new structures and concepts quickly.

Education
