Beyond Barriers is a six month programme that supports graduates from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds who have not yet secured full-time employment since they graduated.

SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) London Beyond Barriers: Our first graduate-focused programme was launched in February 2022. The Beyond Barriers programme specifically provides up to six months of support to underserved and underrepresented graduates who have yet to secure full-time gainful employment. The programme is sponsored by Barclays Citizenship. Participants will get access to tailored employability bootcamps and online resources, a mentor, and regular support and care from the SEO London team to help them get into work.

The programme is centred and tailored to give candidates personalised support to boost their confidence, help them think creatively about their career and improve those key employability skills.

Two cohorts of 60 graduates will be recruited in February and July every year, with applications open twice a year, in January and May.

PARTICIPANTS GAIN ACCESS TO:
  • Employability workshops:  Join a series of interactive and practical employability training designed to get you Job Market Ready,  including:

    • Setting SMART career goals 

    • CV and cover letter deep dive

    • Understanding your USP (unique selling point), skills and strengths

    • Acing interviews and gaining confidence in showcasing yourself.

  • Mentoring: Get matched with a mentor to add more support to your six-month journey into work 

  • Mock Assessment Centre and interviews: Opportunities to practice several times

  • Access to career and personal development online resources, including JobSpecTest, Udamon, SparkHire

  • Weekly catch up with the BB team: To keep you motivated and on the road to employment, you will have regular catchups with the Beyond the Barriers  team to get support, ask questions, and hopefully feel like you are never alone.

ELIGIBILITY

The Beyond Barriers programme is open to candidates that:

  • Graduated in or after 2020,

  • are unemployed or not have not yet secured full-time employment,

  • meet one or more of the following criteria:

    • graduated from a non-Russell Group university,​

    • identify as a person from a Black heritage or ethnically diverse background,

    • identify as a person from a low socioeconomic background.

We welcome applications from all diverse backgrounds and will review each on a case-by-case basis.
