I was keen to join an organisation that would nurture and advance my professional career and SEO Corporate Law Programme ticked all the boxes. The Programme focuses on improving the commercial mindset of its members through a combination of training sessions and networking events attended by the partner firms. With the legal profession being so competitive, applicants need to showcase their personal qualities and also demonstrate that they appreciate the general picture; that they understand the functions of a lawyer in a multijurisdictional law firm, the types of clients being serviced and why, how firms seek to differentiate themselves from their competitors and grow and what external and internal factors effect business decisions. Through the SEO Corporate Law Programme I attained a summer placement at Ashurst LLP and subsequently a training contract with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP starting in August 2012.
